Five of the best interiors shops in North Tyneside
So, you’ve bought or rented a house in North Tyneside? Congrats! Now, you need to fill it with furniture, rugs and accessories. Luckily for you, I’ve spent the past nine months filling my flat on North Shields Fish Quay with the aforementioned, and have even gone so far as compiling a list of my top five interiors shops North of the Tyne. You can thank me later…
One Six One Interiors, Whitley Bay
Full to the brim with elegant, timeless pieces, One Six One Interiors is the go-to homeware store for lovers of modern, contemporary styling. Owned by furniture up-cycler, Jayne this slice of interiors heaven stocks Annie Sloan Chalk Paint alongside re-vamped furniture, lighting and finishing touches. Kasbah Furniture Market, North Shields
Like Marmite, you either love or you hate Kasbah Furniture Market. Personally, I love it. Yes, it smells musty and, yes, it has a lot of tat. But, in amongst the bric-a-brac, you can often find quality, antique furniture at a reasonable price. I have two Stag bedside tables (which I painted in Annie Sloan French Linen) plus a gorgeous, ornate mirror from Kasbah; I love nothing more than having a good ol’ rummage, and Kasbah is the place to do it. Just be prepared to haggle - it’s part of the fun, I promise!
Kasbah Furniture Market, 112 Little Bedford Street, North Shields, NE29 6NW
Little Red Interiors, Whitley Bay
Owned by the lovely Jules, Little Red Interiors is named after the busy mum’s three little redheads. Born from a love of interior styling, Little Red Interiors is full to bursting with beautiful products for you, your home and your little ones. Jules has cherry-picked the best contemporary, British brands, and houses some of the most swoon-worthy soft furnishings, accessories and finishing touches.
Little Red Interiors is only-online, but is based in Whitley Bay
Razzberry Bazaar, Tynemouth
Established in 1985 by an artist, Razzberry Bazaar is a treasure-trove of colour and creativity housed in a Georgian townhouse in Tynemouth. Famous for its colour-blocked displays of homeware, clothing and jewellery, Razzberry Bazaar sources truly unique wares from all over the world. An absolute must for locals and visitors of the coastal village alike!

Elsee, Whitley Bay
Last, but certainly not least, on my list of must-visit homeware stores is Elsee. Don’t be put off by the tiny square-footage; do come out armed with graphic art prints, illustrations and statement typography signs! Elsee was set up by Louise Clark (whose initials inspired the name), who hails from Norfolk, but who can definitely call herself a Geordie - her wonderful little shop full of homages to the North East is testament to that…
